Story
The initial idea for MetroBoom came about when the founder, Jung Park moved to Denver from New York City. Jung was a consultant, providing strategy, design, and implementation services in branding, communication design, web development, and e-enterprise developments. As a consultant, physical appearance was just as important to Jung as his expertise, communication, and personal skills. He had found that it was quite difficult to find a place where he could get a quality hair cut and feel comfortable. The majority of hair salons were unisex and they were often intimidating. The barber shops offered a lot more comfortable atmosphere but often the quality of hair cut suffered. The idea for a hair salon for men where quality hair cuts and comfortable atmosphere were balanced to perfection was born. The idea was shared with his friends and Jung received positive feedback.
It wasn't until 2 years later that MetroBoom was conceived into a business plan. Jung was completing his MBA program at University of Colorado at Denver, where the emphasis of his study was on entrepreneurship. As a class project, Jung wrote his business plan for MetroBoom. The business plan was also entered into the 3rd Annual Business Plan Competition hosted by Bard Center for entrepreneurship at University of Colorado at Denver. On June 15, 2004, MetroBoom's business plan was awarded with the first place honor at the business plan competition. For next 12 months Jung steadily worked on executing his business plan while completing his graduate studies.
MetroBoom finally opened its doors on Ocotber 11, 2005. The launch of MetroBoom was made possible by a great deal of support and interest Jung received by his friends, colleagues, mentors, Bard center, and business associates who believed in MetroBoom.
